Nothing was going to stop founder Douwe Leitner from pursuing his ultimate dream. From an early age, his life was driven by his love of automobiles. From the miniature cars around his bed to the endless staring at cars on the highway when on vacation to France. At the age of 14, Leitner started washing cars by hand. Even in the harshest of winters, he would carry on until his fingers almost froze off. To this day, he still enjoys it when a car passes through his hands and he gets to examine every detail down to the last millimeter.

We live for cars
Even in the early days of his business career, after a few unexpected turns along the way, it quickly became clear that his heart really lies with cars. Leitner followed his heart and turned his passion into his work. Without a large start-up capital, he started by buying a Renault Twingo. At first he sold cars from home, but things quickly spiraled out of hand. After a number of years, Auto Leitner grew to the size known to the public today. Over time, we have gradually built a strong foundation and a solid network, step by step. And we have always remained close to our own core values. Everyone else ‘zigs’? Then we ‘zag’! Today, you will find the final result right here in Alkmaar: a treasure trove full of unique cars.
